The world's tallest dunes glow crimson at dawn. An easy run from Windhoek on good gravel — the quintessential Namibian sunrise.
A vast salt pan ringed by waterholes where elephant, rhino and lion gather. Self-drive between camps at your own pace.
Where the desert meets the cold Atlantic. Shipwrecks, seal colonies and the eerie quiet of the Skeleton Coast.
Track desert-adapted elephant and ancient rock art. Rugged, remote and best explored with a fully equipped 4×4.
Drive Smart in Namibia
Namibia's smooth gravel roads tempt high speeds — and they account for the highest incidence of 4×4 rollovers. A 4×4 sits high with a raised centre of gravity. Stay well below the speed limit, slow for corners and loose surfaces, and reduce speed to 80 km/h or less after dark to avoid animals.
